Florida is a residential suburb in Roodepoort. The Florida , Roodepoort area became a city in 1977.

Florida Lake is a big attraction to the Florida area, the Moth Hall at Florida lake caters for weddings, birthdays and other social events. Florida Lake usually hosts events on weekends where they entertain spectators with Dragon Boat racing events, flea markets ect.
